Virtual Snowdon Mountain Walk for Treadmills
Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon, rises to 1,085 metres in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and is the highest mountain in Wales. This 133-minute walking video follows a long, steady ascent through increasingly rugged mountain terrain, with rocky paths, loose stone and exposed sections becoming more prominent higher up.
The lower mountain has broader paths and more vegetation, but the landscape gradually opens as the trail climbs. Rocky ridges, steep valleys and glacial lakes appear between the surrounding peaks, while higher sections provide increasingly expansive views across Eryri. The terrain becomes rougher and more exposed near the summit, with much less shelter from the surrounding mountains.
The walking rhythm is deliberately slow at around 3 km/h, but the 8% treadmill incline makes this a substantially more demanding session than the flatter walks in the collection. The sustained gradient gives the video a continuous uphill feel, rather than the short rises and falls found on many countryside trails.
Yr Wyddfa has several established paths to the summit, each passing through different combinations of mountain scenery and terrain. As elevation increases, the vegetation gives way to rockier ground and broad open slopes. The summit area sits above much of the surrounding landscape, with panoramic views across Eryri and, in clear conditions, much farther across Wales.
At 1,085 metres, Yr Wyddfa is the highest point in Wales and the highest mountain in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands. Its distinctive summit and surrounding mountain landscape make it one of the most recognisable walking destinations in the country.
For an indoor walking workout, the 133-minute duration and sustained 8% incline create a long mountain ascent, with the scenery progressing from lower mountain paths to exposed high-altitude terrain and dramatic Welsh ridgelines.
