Virtual Betws-y-Coed Walk for Treadmills
Betws-y-Coed sits in a wooded valley in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, surrounded by rivers, waterfalls and dense Welsh forest. This 132-minute walking video follows woodland and riverside paths around the village, with compact dirt, gravel, exposed roots and rocky sections creating a varied natural surface.
The trail moves beneath dense mixed and coniferous woodland, with moss-covered trees and rocks lining sections of the path. The River Llugwy appears regularly, sometimes as a broad flowing river and elsewhere squeezed between rocky banks. Wooden bridges, forest streams and rushing water add variety as the route moves through the valley.
The terrain is moderately rolling, with regular gentle climbs and descents rather than one sustained ascent. The video uses around 4 km/h with a 3% treadmill incline, giving the walk a steady hiking effort over its long duration. Reducing the incline to 1–2% provides a more relaxed interpretation while keeping some of the natural rise and fall.
Betws-y-Coed is often known as the Gateway to Snowdonia and is one of the best-known villages within Eryri. Several rivers meet around the village, helping shape the steep, wooded valley and creating the waterfalls and rocky waterways that characterise the area.
One of the best-known sights nearby is Swallow Falls on the River Llugwy. Here, fast-flowing water runs through a narrow rocky gorge surrounded by dense woodland, adding another distinctive section to the surrounding walking landscape.
At 132 minutes, this is a long virtual walk with plenty of time for the scenery to change gradually. The route stays focused on Welsh woodland, flowing rivers and rocky valley paths, while the moderate pace and incline maintain a consistent indoor walking rhythm.
