Virtual Slåttdalsskrevan Canyon Walk for Treadmills
The Slåttdalsskrevan Trail runs through rugged Swedish forest in Skuleskogen National Park on the High Coast of Sweden. The walking video follows a steady route through dense woodland, exposed granite, moss-covered rocks and uneven natural paths, with regular changes in elevation.
The terrain has a distinctly rocky feel. Tree roots, granite slabs and short climbs break up the forest floor, while the surrounding slopes become steeper approaching Slåttdalsskrevan. The trail is hilly rather than continuously steep, with a mixture of uphill and downhill movement that gives the walk a steady mountain-hiking rhythm.
Slåttdalsskrevan is the main landmark along the route, a narrow granite crevice cutting through the mountain for around 200 metres. Its rock walls rise roughly 30–40 metres above the canyon floor. The route no longer passes directly through the crevice because of rockfall risk, with the newer High Coast Trail providing views from below on the northern side and above from the southern side.
Beyond the canyon, the forest opens in places to rocky outcrops and views across the surrounding High Coast landscape. This part of Sweden is known for its steep coastal hills, exposed bedrock and forests shaped by ongoing land uplift following the last Ice Age. The area forms part of the High Coast UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
For this virtual walk, a treadmill speed around 4 km/h with a 3% incline gives a steady approximation of the general hiking rhythm. The actual trail is more varied, with steeper rocky sections and short climbs, while 1–2% incline works well for a gentler indoor walking workout. The 25-minute walking video keeps a continuous pace through the forest and rocky surroundings, with the changing scenery providing a natural walking backdrop.
