Virtual Twisted Sisters Walk for Treadmills

Twisted Sisters Walk explores the wet, cool woodland around Mount Field in Tasmania, following a natural track through tall eucalypts, dense ferns and moss-covered forest. This 14-minute walking video heads towards the distinctive Twisted Sisters trees, with the surrounding forest providing a typically lush Mount Field backdrop.

The track is mostly compacted earth and gravel, with exposed roots and occasional uneven patches underfoot. There are a few gentle rises and falls, but no sustained climbing, making this an easy section of walking. The video uses a 0% treadmill incline and a relaxed pace of around 3 km/h to match that gentle character.

The forest is particularly green and damp, with towering eucalypts rising above thick ferny undergrowth. Moss-covered trunks, fallen branches and moisture-loving plants fill the edges of the track, while the dense canopy keeps much of the walk shaded and enclosed.

The Twisted Sisters are the main attraction along the route. These unusual eucalyptus trees have grown with their trunks and branches intertwined, creating a distinctive shape that stands out from the surrounding forest. They make for a memorable destination on what is otherwise a short and straightforward woodland walk.

The cool conditions also made filming a little challenging. With the temperature around 3°C, moisture caused the camera lens to fog during the walk. I had to stop several times to clear it, which resulted in a few cuts in the finished video.

For treadmill walking, 3 km/h at 0% incline provides an easy indoor walking workout that closely matches the feel of the trail. At just 14 minutes, this is a short virtual walk, with the lush Tasmanian forest, moss-covered trees and unusual Twisted Sisters providing most of the scenery.
