Virtual Inglis River Walk for Treadmills
The Inglis River Walk follows the river through Wynyard on Tasmania's north-west coast, passing riverside gardens, wetlands, open grassy areas and the Wynyard Wharf. This 105-minute walking video moves between town and natural surroundings, eventually reaching the more open coastal landscape around the mouth of the Inglis River.
The walking surface changes between fine gravel, paved paths and boardwalk, giving the route some variety even though it is mostly flat. There are only small changes in elevation, although some parts of the wider riverside network include stairs. Native vegetation lines the river in places, while more open sections provide views across the water and towards the coast.
Richard Gutteridge Gardens is one of the more developed parts of the walk, with landscaped gardens, seating areas and the wharf beside the river. From here, the River Walk network continues for more than 8 kilometres, with paths extending towards the Bass Highway bridge and around other parts of the river.
As the walk continues, the scenery gradually changes from gardens and riverside vegetation to wetlands, bridges and more open coastal areas. The Inglis River remains the main feature throughout, with Bass Strait becoming part of the view as the route approaches the river mouth.
For the treadmill version, the pace is around 4 km/h with a 2% incline. That adds a little more effort than the mostly level real-world paths and gives the long session a steady, sustainable rhythm. If you want a closer match to the actual terrain, 0–1% incline would also work well.
The longer Inglis River routes can form a much larger circuit, with local descriptions putting the full loop at around 11 kilometres. At 105 minutes, this virtual walk focuses less on covering the entire route and more on the changing scenery along the river, moving from Wynyard's gardens and town paths through wetlands and towards the open coast.
With its relaxed pace and mixture of river, gardens, wetlands and coastal scenery, this is a long but relatively easy virtual walk through one of the more scenic parts of Wynyard.
