Virtual Greenes Falls Rainforest Walk for Treadmills

Greenes Falls Track winds through subtropical rainforest in the D’Aguilar Range, north-west of Brisbane. This 37-minute walking video follows the natural track towards Greenes Falls, with the forest becoming thicker and greener around the creek and wetter sections.

The track is mostly compacted dirt and gravel, with roots, rocks and uneven patches appearing along the way. There are some gentle rises and descents, but nothing that turns into a sustained climb. The 0% treadmill incline used in the video suits the generally easy terrain, while the 5 km/h pace gives the walk a steady rhythm.

The forest has a very different feel from the dry eucalypt woodland closer to Brisbane. Palms, ferns and vines fill the understory, with moss-covered rocks and damp ground adding to the rainforest atmosphere. Small streams run through parts of the forest, and the thick canopy keeps much of the track shaded.

The creek becomes more noticeable as the track approaches Greenes Falls, with water flowing over rocks and through the rainforest. The amount of water can change depending on recent rainfall, but the creek remains one of the main features of the walk.

For the treadmill version, around 5 km/h at 0% incline keeps things simple and relaxed. The 37-minute length makes it an easy indoor walking workout, with the changing rainforest, creek and natural track providing most of the scenery.

The combination of dense subtropical vegetation, flowing water and natural forest track gives Greenes Falls a much wetter and more enclosed character than many of the open eucalypt walks around Brisbane.
